  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINDI RAE CALLAHAN BARTELL

DSCN1072 My daughter Mindi, turns 30 - i cannot believe that time has flown by soo quickly, and she is a mom of three and a wonderful mom she is and such a wonderful wife and a fantastic daughter!  Sounds too good to be true - well sorry it IS true!  She was born on a cool fall day 30 years ago and it was the first of deer season - I always think of my father in law coming in from the deer woods to be at the hospital for the birth of a Callahan and "for a Girl"!  She came in to our lives and brightened our world around us.  We examined her everyday - Curt put tape on her ears (they stuck out just a wee bit)  He didn't want people to think she would fly before she learn to walk, haha!  And i guess it worked for she has lovely ears.  She was the "apple of mimi's eye" and they would play Bar Bumper.  Mimi (Geral) wore glasses and as she would place Mindi in her lap and she would first remove her glasses so Mindi could play Eye winker tom tinker - and Mindi would always remove "her pretend" glasses at the same time! So cute! She loved working on the farm with Pop and the girls as I would go to work in the afternoon she helped out in the chicken houses and would come to the house while Mimi was cooking supper so exhausted.  One day Mimi was peeling boiled eggs for a salad and she asked could she have one. Mim said Sure and Mindi said "put it in my mouth please..."  She knew how to get things she wanted, her favorite saying was "i need it, I Need It, I NEED IT!  And most of the time she got it!  She was so smart, loved to have books read to her and would memorize every page and if you dared skip a page she would quickly point that out to you.  If she saw some one smoking she would say ' Mama they're going to die huh?  Please stop smoking so you won't die!  She would normally be the Favorite where ever she was - in Church she was Weazees fav (Louise) - in school Ms Pate, Ms Billingsly, well all her teachers in Elem for sure she was #1 and Most in high school.  She had several nick names through out her life - Weasel, Minni rae, Mini Hot Dog, etc..  If you have ever met her i am sure you were amazed by this outstanding, beautiful, smart girl (now I am bragging)....DSCN1051

But Now she is a lady Mindi Bartell-  i love you so much and have always been so excited to be your Mom and want to thank you for giving me a great son in law and three wonderful, beautiful, smart, grandchildren!  Happy Birthday to You!DSCN1071

  • Boo! Woo!

DSCN1081 DSCN1085 The grand kiddos dressed up for Halloween - we went to the church first for chili dog, yummy cakes and then on to hay ride!  It was a beautiful night after a day of sunshine and 77 degrees then a full "MOON" and a wonderful time of fellowship - anticipating IF there would be an animal jump out to frighten us (and a Buck did) then after we had just made it across an old iron bridge - 4 or 5 guys came running up to the wagon to frighten us, but we were so enthralled by the children screaming, laughing, (maybe even adult scream) that they did not scare anyone but added to the fun we were all having! a Fun time indeed and pretty crispy by the time we stopped for our hot chocolate and marshmallows (in front of a cemetery.....

  • Time Flies!

Time flies when you are having fun!  Where has the time gone - June to September, summer is gone and now Fall is here.  We had a wonderful family union at Mt Nebo this summer, Stacie and her girls, Diane, Steve, Jeff and family, the Newcomb Clan, Mindi and her chillins, the Hernandez herd' and My Sweet Boy Curtis from Chicago!  Plus mimi and pabob and their Dixie and Bit, myself and Miguel!  We had such a lovely time just walking and watching the deer come right up to the front steps, kids playing till their heart was content in the great outdoors.  Food served by all was super delicious, talk, chatter, laughter, sweet sounds.  Walk to watch the sunset, ended up piling in the back end of the pick up - just beauty surrounded us.
